Workshops : Hands on Workshop (HoW) - 24/11/2016 to 28/11/2016

The Hands on Workshop (HoW) conceived in 2012 in PVPCOA, to understand the importance of indigenous materials in today's context and working along with students to bring back its glory. The students are encouraged to understand the material and technology, which are beyond the classroom / syllabus, by conducting annual workshops with the help of experts.

URBANISM is the study of the characteristic ways of interaction of inhabitants of towns and cities (urban areas) with the built environment. We, at P.V.P.College of Architecture, Pune, believe in creating socially conscious architects who can contribute in shaping our built environment. We identified the two raging problems of urbanism - SHELTER & WASTE. In order to bringing about a radical shift in students’ and ultimately the citizens’ outlook towards construction, we chose WASTE as our source to derive new building materials. With a vision to use the indigenous waste and man-made waste materials to solve the issue of shelters, we formulated a strategy for the Hands-on Workshop for the academic year 2016-17 involving the II and III year students.

This year the Hands-on Workshop 2016, where 15 groups of students from II year and III year respectively will compete, intends to adopt a research based approach and will focus on two aspects - Shelter and Waste.

The Workshop was scheduled from Thursday, 24th November 2016 to Monday, 28th November 2016.
