Site Visit : ABTS IV - Industrial Shed, Pirangut and Urse - 29/08/2016

As a part of Advanced Building Technology and Services (ABTS) subject IV year students visited the Industrial Shed to study the portal frame construction details, Cladding system details, joinery and the overall building envelope on Monday, 29th August 2016.

Visit & Interaction: Ar. Shankar G., Trivandrum - 27/08/2016

Ar. Shankar G. paid a visit to our college on Saturday, 27th August 2016. He visited the college premises and had a brief interaction with the students and the faculty.

Ar. Shankar G. is the Founder and Chairman of Habitat Technology Group, established in 1987 in Kerala which is registered as a Charitable Society. It is totally committed to the concept of green and humane architecture. 

Recipient of the prestigious Padmashree award, National award for the best Eco-city design and various other recognition, G. Shankar's commitment, enthusiasm, passion, and an eye for beauty are the elements that add a special touch to his architecture. He feels that architecture should peacefully co-exist with nature and not alter it for materialistic needs.

Guest Lecture: M.Arch.: Ar. Jayant Dharap on Landscape Architecture - 20/08/2016

Ar. Jayant Dharap was invited by the faculty of M.Arch. (Landscape Design) to give a guest lecture on Landscape Architecture on Saturday, 20th August 2016 at PVPCOA conference room.

To give an orientation to the newly admitted students of M.Arch. Landscape Design, Ar. J. Dharap was invited to give an introductory lecture on landscape Architecture.

Site Visit: BS I : Plumbing Lab, COEP, Pune - 27/08/2016

As a part of Second Year Building Services academic curriculum, the second year students visited COEP Plumbing lab to study and understand water supply, drainage, and Sewage treatment plan of COEP hostel block.

The students were taken in batches to the plumbing lab and were explained basics of building services.

As a part of  Advanced Building Technology and Services (ABTS) subject IV year students visited Swimming Pool at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi, Pune to study the Filtration system and other related services on Tuesday, 23rd August 2016. The Stadium was visited to study its construction details and function.

Visit by Ar. Carcimaru Radu, Heidelberg, South Africa - 20/08/2016

Ar. Carcimaru Radu visited PVPCOA on Saturday, 20th August 2016. Ar. C. Radu is a Resident Representative at Heidelberg University, Heidelberg, South Africa.

He was in the city for a Lecture and made a brief visit to our college. He had a guided tour of the college and had interaction with faculty and few students.

First Year M.Arch. (Landscape Architecture) Students' Orientation Day - 20/08/2016


The First Year M. Arch. (Landscape Architecture) Students' Orientation Day was organised in PVPCOA on Saturday, 20th August 2016. 70th Independence Day Celebrations : Marathon, Flag Hoisting, Magazine, Year Book 6, EXIT Book release & Treasure Hunt - 15/08/2016

We at PVPCOA celebrated the 70th Independence Day of India on 15th of August 2016 with great enthusiasm and vigour.

Like every year, this year too the Independence Day started off with the Marathon. The boy's marathon spanned a distance of 8 km from PVP Hostel to College, while the girl's marathon spanned a distance of 5 km from Bhugaon to College. A total of 33 students and 4 faculty members participated in the Marathon.

This year the Chief Guest for the event was one of the youngest BCCI umpire, Mr. Swaroopanand Kannur. He stressed the importance of believing in oneself and working hard to achieve the target one has set in one's life. The event emphasised the importance of Sports in one's life. PVPCOA faculty member Ar. Harshada Brahme gave a speech on nurturing talent and being disciplined to achieve the set aim. Third year student Uchchita Joshi described the importance of sports in one's life. After the flag hoisting and National Anthem, the Year Book 6 and the EXIT book was released by the dignitaries. Year Book is a compilation of Student's work in Second Semester of Academic Year 2015-16, while the EXIT book is a compilation of Final year Thesis work which also documents the process of thesis in PVPCOA. Later the much awaited PVPCOA Magazine - Keystone was also released. 

A Treasure Hunt was organised by the students after the celebrations, the purpose being that the newly arrived first year students can get acquainted with the college campus.

Asian Contest for Architectural Rookie's Award : Indian Domestic Contest 2016 - 06/08/2016

The Asian Contest for Architectural Rookie's Award : Indian Domestic Contest 2016 was held successfully on Saturday, 6th August 2016 at VIT's PVPCOA.

This year, amidst heavy rains, about 55 contestants from over 40 colleges all over India contested in the National competition and the enthusiasm showed was no less than ever. This year students from about 10 states, vis-a-vis, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Kerela participated in the competition. The contestants registered at the venue on Friday, 5th August 2016 and presented their Third year work on Saturday, 6th August 2016.

The Jury involved heads and representative of 8 Colleges which included, Ar. S.M.Akhtar, Director, Jamia Milia Islamia COA, New Delhi; Ar. Manoj Mathur, Director, SPA, New Delhi; Ar. Mamatha Raj, BMSCA, Bangalore; Ar. Sharad Panchal, IAP, NIRMA, Ahmedabad; Ar. Suresh Singh, AOA, Mumbai, Ar. Percy Pithawala, SEDA, NU, Vadodara; Ar. Rohan Shivkumar, KRVIA, Mumbai and Ar. Shekhar Garud, PVPCOA. The event was convened by Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai.

It was a nail biting moment, when the Jury voted for the top 5 winners, 2 Gold and 3 Silver. The results were as follows:

SILVER WINNERS:

The 2 Gold winners will be representing India at the ACARA 2016 : Asian Contest at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 1st of October, later this year.

The event was successfully managed by the Students of Thirds year and Second year B.Arch. with the strong supervision of PVPCOA Faculty and support extended by the administration under secretary of VIT, Shri Jitendra Pitaliya.

Invitation for attending Asian Contest for Architectural Rookie's Award (ACARA) 2016:Indian Domestic Contest- 06/08/2016

Dear Principal, Faculty and Architecture students,

PVP College of Architecture, Pune welcomes you to attend the Indian Domestic Contest for ACARA ( Asian Contest of Architectural Rookie's Awards 2016) to be held on Saturday, 6th August 2016 at PVPCOA, Pune.

It's a competition where the current 4th year students will present their 3rd year design project done in academic session 2015-16.

Two Gold winners of the Indian domestic contest represent India for the International contest to be held in Mongolia on Sat 1st October 2016.

We have entries from 42 different colleges all over India with 75 contestants registered.

Registration for attending the event can be done on Saturday, 6th August 2016, at PVPCOA registration desk between 8:15am - 8:45 am.

Charges for contestants-Nil;
For students: 300/-;
For faculty: 500/- ( complimentary breakfast and lunch for faculty and contestants)
