Post Graduate Course in LANDSCAPE ARHITECTURE

Dear All,

We, at P.V.P. College of Architecture, Pune, are glad to announce the commencement of post graduate course in Landscape Architecture at our institute from July 2013.

Founded in 1995, P.V.P. College of Architecture is one of the reputed institute imparting architectural education in Pune. Managed and run by Vivekanad Institute of Technology under the leadership of Adv. Abhay Chhajed (Chairman, VIT) & Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai (Director PVPCOA) the institute has been pursuing the vision of creating socially conscious architect who can contribute to shaping the built environment. The institute offers a vibrant learning atmosphere and a committed approach to architectural academics. 

The institute aspires to continue its contribution to the field by setting up post graduate departments ofering various advanced courses in Architecture. 

The M. Arch (Landscape) course proposed to be started in July 2013 will be a 2 year full time course with student intake of 20.

Recognized by Council of Architecture and affiliated to the University of Pune* (*approvals awaited) the course will seek to create landscape professionals who will be well equipped to take on the challenges of the profession and contribute positively to the profession  and society at large. 

We are in the process of putting together a faculty team comprising of eminent professionals and academicians, and Prof. Mohammad Shaheer (Landscape Architect and ex Head of the Department SPA, New Delhi) has agreed to mentor the course. Ar. Shirish R. Raval (Landscape Architect and Academician, Vadodara), Ar. Jayant Dharap & Ar. Varsha Gavandi (Landscape Architects, Pune) have also agreed to be advisers and guest faculty for the same.  Ar. Manjusha Ukidve (Landscape Architect and Associate Professor, PVPCOA) will be heading the course and eminent professionals from Pune will be contributing as visiting faculty.

Presentation and Interactive Session : Ar. Kabir Vajpeyi, New Delhi - 26/06/2013

Ar. Kabir Vajapeyi from New Delhi visited college on 26th June 2013. His presentation on 'BaLA : Buildings as Learning Aid' was very inspiring for all. It was followed by an interactive session with students and faculty members.

'Exploring Laxmi Road Pune' : Exhibition at Vishrambaug Wada - 22/06/2013 to 26/06/2013

Fourth year B.Arch students of VIT’s PVPCoA , as a part of their Urban Design Studio did a detailed documentation and study of Laxmi Road  and its surroundings between Alka talkies Chowk to Belbaug Chowk.

Studies were carried out to highlight its importance as an important connector in the old city as a prime commercial street in Pune. The  entire stretch of road was divided into eight parts & studies were carried out in detail by different groups of students covering different aspects like daily & annual Activity patterns, Connectivity by public transport, Traffic issues, Types of shops , Location & Types of Hawkers,  Parking areas, Open spaces & their use, Density of Population, etc. This study eventually culminated conceptual proposals by students with the guidance of faculty.

The study has been now converted into an exhibition titled “ Laxmi Road – Pune’s Life Line on the Edge ” which includes various aspects like History, current issues & measures which can make Laxmi Road a better street and an interesting urban space. The same is being now taken to the citizens and to various institutions, especially traders and people residing in & around Laxmi Road.

our Exhibition “ Laxmi Road – Pune’s Life Line on the Edge “ was inaugurated on Saturday, 22nd  June, 2013 by Mr. Mahesh Pathak ,Hon.Pune Municipal Commissioner at 5.30 pm at the Vishrambaug  Wada , the historic landmark of Pune city.

 

 

Presentation & Interactive Session : Ar. Sudhir Jambhekar, Manhattan - 19/06/2013

Ar. Sudhir Jambhekar from Manhattan visited college on 19th June 2013. He gave a presentation on 'Design and Globalisation' which was followed by interactive session with students and faculty members.

Thesis Review : Ar. K. B. Jain, Ahmedabad & Ar. Rafiq Azam, Bangladesh - 09/03/2013

Review of Thesis work of final year students was arranged on 09th march 2013. Jurors for the review were Ar. K. B. Jain from Ahmedabad & Ar. Rafiq Azam from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Ar. Vikas Bhandari and Abhayji Chhajed also attended interactive session with the guests.

Inauguration of Insight 2012-13 was followed by Keertan. H.B.P. Waman Bua Kolhatkar (Jeshta Keertankar) gave brief introduction about Keertan. After this introduction Keertan was performed by Keertankar Pranav Deo.
