Asian Contest for Architectural Rookies – ACAR is an International contest for students of Architecture, held every year in order to contribute to architectural education and establish rich networking associated with modern Architecture in Asia. This design competition has its own uniqueness that it is open only for the students of Third Year B. Arch, which is an important bench mark & mid destination in the five year long course of Architecture.
The Indian Domestic contest for Asian Contest for Architectural Rookies 2014 was held on 17thAug 2014 at PVP College of Architecture – Pune an upcoming premier Institute of Architecture in India. The competition was open to all students in India studying in 4th year of Architecture B. Arch. course. Their design project work of Third year for academic year 2013-14 – Sem 1 or Sem 2 was presented in this competition
The objective of ACAR competition is to review, judge & evaluate architectural works and ideas created by students studying architectural design in universities in various countries across Asia like Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, Vietnam & India. Asian Architecture Rookie Awards brings together the representative students who are selected from the certain national competitions in Asia, strongly hoping that, the borderless and friendly discussion of differences in students’ architecture work and the education systems in each country, will lead to the answer of how to raise next generation of architects. Every year Asian Architecture Rookie Awards are held in a different Asian countries. This year the ACAR Competition will be held in China.
Organizer & mentor of the ACAR Competition Dr. Youngil Lee from Japan quotes “I deeply believe, that the Asian students that have broadened their horizons in this competition, will play an active role in architectural culture in Asia, making big progress in modern Asian Architecture field” .
The eminent jury panel consisted of Dr. Youngil Lee from Japan , Ar. Narendra Dengale from Pune & Ar Snehanshu Mukherjee from New Delhi. Designs were accessed based upon drawings & models .Emphasis was given to conceptualisation and process of resolution.

2) Mrinali Gokani from Kamala Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture & environmental studies- Mumbai
Silver winners:
1) Karishma Joshi from BKPS college of Architectire –Pune
2) Rishit Jain from Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture-Mumbai
3) Shivani Rastogi from Bharati Vidyapeeth college of Archtitecture-Pune
The Gold winner students Mrinali Gokani & Niomi Shah will represent India for the ACAR competition to be held in China in October 2014.
