Triviarch : Architectural Quiz Competition 2017 - 16/06/2017
On Friday 16th June 2017, the annual Architecture Quiz competition Triviarch was held at PVPCOA

Faculty Interaction with Dr. Vasudha Gokhale - 14/06/2017
Today, Wednesday 14th June 2017, the faculty of PVPCOA had an interaction with Dr. Vasudha Gokhale.
The motive behind the interaction was to understand the importance of research in Academic Institutes and also the process to be undertaken to produce and publish such research work.
Our Institute has been forefront in taking up various practical and public situations and understanding ways to handle these through various academic assignments.
The interaction helped and inspired all faculty to undertake research to strengthen their academic knowledge.

PVP College of Architecture, Pune invites FOURTH Year B.Arch students of 2017-18 to Participate in Asian Contest for Architectural Rookie’s Award (ACARA) – Indian Domestic Contest 2017 (Presenting their Third Year Architectural Design project of Semester 1 or Semester 2 from academic session 2016-17). BROAD DETAILS OF ACARA:
ACARA is an International contest for students of Architecture, held every year in order to contribute to architectural education and establish rich networking associated with modern architecture in Asia. This design competition has its own uniqueness that it is open only for the current 4th year students to present their 3rd Year B. Arch Architectural Design work. Design work, which is an important bench mark & mid destination in the five year long course of Architecture.
Dr. Youngil Lee from Japan is the Chief organiser for ACARA. The objective of ACARA competition is to review, judge & evaluate architectural works and ideas created by students studying architectural design in universities in various countries across Asia like Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, Vietnam & India.
For the Indian domestic contest for architectural Rookies-2017, (hosted by PVP college of architecture) invitation will be sent to all the 400 plus colleges recognised by Council of Architecture in india.
A) ELIGIBILITY:
1) Bonified students of 4th year B.Arch studying in any Architectural Institute in India recognised by Council of Architecture.
2) Third Year Architectural Design project for Semester 1 or Semester 2 from academic session 2016-17 to be presented.
(Note: Max. 2 Individual Entries per College ; Group work will not be eligible; Only Architectural Design project of 3rd year B.Arch. done in academic session 2016-17 will be eligible.)
B) AWARDS :
· Indian Contest – Top 2 Gold Awards worth Rs.10,000 each & 3 Silver Awards worth Rs.5000 each along with a certificate and trophy.
· Top 2 Gold winners out of these 5 awardees from Indian Domestic contest 2017 will be nominated to represent India for presenting their work in ACARA 2017
Opportunity for 2 Gold winners in the year 2013, 2014 , 2015 and 2016 :
· Winners of Indian domestic contest held in 2013 had an opportunity to represent India in Osaka, Japan
· Winners of Indian domestic contest held in 2014 had an opportunity to represent India in Dalian, China
· Winners of Indian domestic contest 2015 had an opportunity to represent India in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam.
· Winners of Indian domestic contest 2016 had an opportunity to represent India in Singapore.
(Note: Travel and other expenses for Asian contest is reimbursed by the host of ACARA for the two selected participants)
C) JUDGING CRITERIA :
· Design will be assessed by Power-point presentation, Drawings (2 numbers of A1 sized panel) as well as Model for the Indian Domestic Contest 2017.
· Students will present their work in the form of Power-point presentation for max. 5 mins each as per Rookies standard format.

D) JURY PANEL: Jury panel for Indian domestic contest for ACARA 2017 involves more than 10 jury members out of which 2-5 jury members will be from colleges with winning entries in 2016.

Guest Lecture : Ar. Sergio Porta, Glasgow, United Kingdom - 07/06/2017
We at PVPCOA had a great pleasure to have a guest lecture by Ar. Sergio Porta, from Glasgow on Wednesday, 7th of June 2017.
Ar. Sergio Porta is and urban planner and teaches Urban Design at the University of Strathclyde, UK. He also directs the Urban Design study Unit (UDSU) at the smart university.
The lecture was on how to perceive Urban Design and also talked about the pedagogy followed by his Institution.
The lecture was well attended by the students of 3rd and 4th year along with the faculty members and our academic chair, Ar. Narendra Dengale.
