Visit & Interaction : Ar. Patrik Schumacher, London - 27/02/2017

The academic environment of PVPCOA was enriched by the visit of internationally acclaimed Architect Patrick Schumacher (Principal - Zaha Hadid Architects) on Monday, 27th February 2017, at the request and initiation of Ar. Prasanna Desai, Director PVPCOA. 

Ar. Patrick was accompanied by his team of three associates and he was received by Ar. Prasanna Desai (Director – PVPCOA), Ar. Vikas Bhandari (mentor), Shri Jitendraji Pitaliya (Secretary), Ar. Shekhar Garud and all faculty members. Ar. Patrick was in PVPCOA for two hours and was guided to the ‘Insight’ exhibition of academic works of the students of the college and his critical comments on the same were received. 

Later his interaction with all the faculty members was organised where discussions regarding design skill development, use of technology, design methodology were explored. Further issues regarding empowering the students through use of digital technology were discussed and his experiences with students at the Architectural Association. 

A separate interaction with the students took place, wherein issues concerning the application of parametricism in the context of India, the cultural applicability of ‘mass modelling’ and the need to respond to diversity of economics, hand skills, construction techniques was voiced by the students. In the discussion, it was felt that further development in the upcoming field of parametrism was possible based on the contextual situation faced in India. 

The visit of Ar. Patrick Schumacher has certainly infused students with more critical ideas regarding architecture and its relevance for the contemporary situation in India and abroad.

Insight 16-17 : Bandish - 18/02/2017

The annual cultural evening of PVPCOA, Bandish was held on Saturday, 18th of February 2017. 

This year the theme for the evening was Dichotomy, where each year has to perform a 20min performance which includes a skit, dance and fashion show.

The judges invited were,

Ms. Dhanashree Heblikar, Creative Director at Swapnil Theatre, Pune

Mr. Nizam Sheikh, Senior Actor at Swatantra Theatre, Pune

Ar. Sudhanva Kolhatkar, Architect and Planner, Pune

The Fifth year won the overall performance award, Best Fashion Show and Best Set Design Award. The Best Dance went to Second Year while Ishita Suratwala from Second Year and Pushkar Gujarathi from Third year were adjudged the Best Dancer, female & male respectively. Harshvardhan Hardikar, from fifth year was adjudged the Best Actor.

Along with the main performances their were also individual acts by few students. This year being the first year for the Masters in Landscape Architecture students, they performed a dance on mixed songs. From the faculty, Ar. Sadhya Patil, Ar. Sameer Gujar and Ar. Rasika Kulkarni too performed a dance on the evening.

Insight 2016-17 : Sports Day - 16/02/2017

The Sports Day of PVPCOA took place successfully on Thursday 16th February 2017, at Shri Mahavir Jain Hostel grounds,

The Sports included Dodge ball, volleyball, football, cricket, Basketball and athletics. The event ended with tug of war between each class.

The overall sports winners for the year 16-17 are the 3rd Year B. ARCH.

Insight 2016-17 : Inauguration of Academic Exhibition - 14/02/2017

The Insight 2016-17 Academic Exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Nalini Sengupta, Principal, Vidya Valley School, Pune, on Tuesday 14th of February 2017.

Insight Academic Exhibition is a PERMANENT EXHIBITION of ideas, images, expressions......14th, 15th, 16th,17th, 18th February 2017. The only permanent Exhibition of works of Architecture students open 365 days of the year ( except holidays ) from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A place which can give exposure to students from 8th to 12th standard keen to know about what architecture is all about. 

The Exhibition acts as a LIVE CAREER GUIDANCE CELL - guided by faculty and is a perfect place for schools , students & their parents to visit & know about what all is taught in the five year course & kind of work involved.

Convocation Ceremony - 01/02/2017

As per the directive of Savitribai Phule Pune University, VIT’s PVPCOA organised a Convocation Ceremony for the first time on Wednesday, 01st February, 2017 in the college premises. This is an auspicious ceremony for the alumni to revisit the college and meet the faculty members and administration and vice versa. 

The Chief Guest for the event is Dr. Sudhakar Jadhavar, Pune and Trustee, Shri. Jitendra Pitaliya. Ar. Prof. Prasanna Desai, Director and Ar. Shekhar Garud, Academic Co-ordinator, PVPCOA. Dr. Sudhakar Jadhavar is ex-Dean Faculty of Commerce, Savitribai Phule Pune University,Pune. and Member of Maharashtra Nursing Council Maharashtra State. He also runs the Jadhavar group of Institutes in Narhe, Pune. 

Dr. Sudhakarrao Jadhavar who is widely known as core education list and has been part of Savitribai Phule Pune University who has successfully completed his tenure as a dean faculty of Commerce and has broughting massive changes throughout commerce faculty of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Not only this but he also involved in various academic bodies of University. He has been known as Scholars Reaserch Guide in wide spectrum of Education at National and International Level. He is also member of Maharashtra Nursing Council, Maharashtra State and Secretary of Principle Forum of S.P.P.U.

This Year 71 students of Academic batch 2013-2016 got convocated.
