Pune gets Award of the Year for its first DESIGNED URBAN SPACE
IIID Anchor Natioal Award 2015 presented "Award of the Year" to Prasanna Desai Architects (PDA) an Architecture and Urban Design firm, under the category of
"AFFORDABLE DESIGN FOR THE MASSES" in New Delhi on January 23rd 2016 for their project "CREATING AN URBAN SPACE WITH PUBLIC PARTICIPATION" along
ITI road in Aundh.
Project
"DISHA" aimed at creating Healthy, Hygienic and Humane neighbourhood by Public Participatory approach and unique incorporation of design strategy
"Drawing the DESIRE LINES" which prioritised 15 key components of a street, like Pedestrians, Cycle tracks, Integrating services and Hawkers, thus creating street as an urban space and social hub.This was achieved within the existing street fabric by streamlining the ongoing activities and reorganising the spaces for optimisation of
"THE SOCIAL STREET CULTURE".
The
Jury cited "It is an interesting urban intervention which has transformed an entire street in a very sensitive manner. It also involves all the stakeholders with its interesting concept. We hope that this initiative is taken up across the cities in our country to make the urban life of our citizens better."
The college congratulates
